Many are based overseas beyond the reach of UK law. Never respond to any of these approaches even with a stop request, instead if it is a text message forward the text to your network provider. 02 forward the text to 7726 - Vodaphone forward the text to 87726 - T-mobile lodge a complaint at their website - Orange Email customer.services@orange.com with the text message and number. Also report any spam messages you receive to the Information Commissioners Office Tel 0303 123 1113 or www.Ico.gov.uk/complaints.aspx.
