Pranayama

Prana is said to be a sort of vitality underlying the breath. Yama simply means control. I have used this practice everyday for many years and find it to be very helpful physically, mentally and emotionally.

The healthy person inhales and exhales 21,600 times per day.

It is said most people breathe irregularly.  This is because fears, anxiety, violent emotions, great joy and pleasure, sorrows and nervous excitements all cause irregular breathing.  We are quite often not aware of this.  So by controlling the actions of this Prana in the nerve currents and centres it is said that the movements of the lungs and the respiration are also regulated and controlled
